Sinking Springs Elementary School provides students in grades four through six with a personalized, challenging and enjoyable educational experience.
Our school, opened in September, 2001, is an exceptional facility with lots of natural light, state-of-the-art technology, and a fabulous faculty that is committed to providing educational opportunities through which all students strive to achieve their full potential. Guided Reading is used to differentiate the instruction at all grade levels. Diagnostic assessments are used in Reading, Writing, and Math to enable the teachers to meet the individual instructional needs of all students. Science, Social Studies, and Health Education are also a part of the daily instruction within each heterogeneously mixed classroom. Students receive instruction from curriculum specialists in the areas of Physical Education, Music, Art, and Library throughout the course of the 6-day cycle. Sinking Springs offers additional programs to support and enhance the curriculum.
A wide variety of Special Education services, an active Instructional Support team, guidance services, English as a Second Language, instrumental music lessons, and a seminar program for gifted students are some of the additional services available to students as needed. A variety of after school intramural clubs and activities are also offered throughout the year to encourage students to participate in extracurricular areas of interest. Sinking Springs's active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) supports our students with a corps of volunteers to assist in the classrooms, accompany children on field trips and provide classroom celebrations.
The PTO purchases student planners for each student at the beginning of the year and provides an annual Memory Book, as well. Book fairs, Fun Day, a Spirit Clothing sale, skating parties, the publication of a student directory, community service projects, and other special projects are some of the many other events and activities that parents can become involved with through our outstanding PTO!
We look forward to being a part of your family's educational experience!
